Thanks for the memory

Turn the clock back 75 years or so and there are two children outside a pleasant, white painted house in Gardener’s Way, Rainhill.
The house is home to my Aunt Molly, Uncle Jack and my Cousin Pat; only two years younger than I and we are firm friends.
Pat and the other children at the party are crowded in the doorway laughing as I and one of Pat’s friends have been sent outside to sing a duet as a forfeit.
As ever, it was another great party at Pat’s house; one of many to which I was happy to be invited. The final one I recall is when I was 15 or so and she 13. We stood in groups chatting – how grown-up!
Then work, the R.A.F. for 2 years for me and then we found ourselves working together in Pilkington’s Head Office in St. Helens. Adults and colleagues.
As often happens with marriage and house moves and family responsibilities, we lost touch for many years. How glad I am that we made contact again and then kept in touch.
That party was a long time ago, but it is still so clear in my mind.
Thanks for the memory Pat.
